Have you felt the shift yet? The other morning as I was waking I had a dream a friend called. They wanted to know how I was doing because the battle of 2019 had been fierce. As I began to tell them I was good, in the natural a hotel door slammed shut and woke me up out of the dream. Although I was not happy about being woken up, I heard the Lord say, “Last year’s season is over. The warfare of 2019 is done. The door has been shut.” Later that same day in the evening I was writing some dreams and processing some stuff and I heard the Lord say, “That journal is done. It’s time to move on to a new journal because the season has changed. That season is over” To be honest I was a bit startled by the Lord’s directness, but it was confirmation to what he had spoken earlier.
The season has changed and it’s time to stop looking back and dwelling on things you cannot change. The Lord has shut the door. The books of heaven have changed to a new chapter, because we’re in a new era. Philippians 4:13-14 says, “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God's heavenly call in Christ Jesus.” Stop looking back into 2019. It’s time to go forward and lay hold of the new in 2020. Ahold can be defined as to grab or have a hold on (dictionary.com).
How do we grab a hold of and access the new. It starts with Isaiah 43:18, “Do not remember the former things,Or ponder the things of the past." We are the sum of our thoughts. We will only be able to go as far as our thoughts will take us. The Bible says, "As a man thinks so is he" (Proverbs 23:7). To grab onto the new we need to have the mindset for it. When we dwell on the things of the past whether good or bad, we get stuck there. It becomes a dwelling place God never intended for you to be in. A lot times what has happened in past seasons in mynute in comparison to what he wants to do in your now and future. It's like when your driving in a car and you look in the rear view mirror. When you look in the rear view, its a narrow and has a small portion of sight It has limits and can only look back and not ahead. The Lord desires for your vision to be like the front window of your car. Prophetically windows represent vision. Your front windshield is big, wide, and enables you to see whats ahead. It's time to stop looking at the rear view mirror of your life, and start looking through God's prophetic window of vision for your life.
What has your attention? It's important to realize your thoughts carry vision. That's why the apostle Paul said this in Philippians 3:12-12, "Not that I have already reached the goal or am already perfect, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead." What has a hold of you, has you. When past seasons have a hold of us instead of the Lord, it will be hard to move to move forward and grab unto the new. We're able to be led by the spirit of God in a greater measure when the God has a hold on us. When we allow ourselves to be led by the spirit we become sensitive to his promptings and directions in our lives. In this new season, it's important to be sensitive to the promptings of the spirit, because he's going to lead some of you a way you've not gone before. The Lord is making new pathways and roads in your life where they were not present before.
Come up higher! As we've stepped into 2020, the Lord wants to give you a fresh perspective. To go from glory to glory there must be a maturing that takes places. Maturing opens the way for new realms and dimensions in God. Paul said in Philippians 3:15, "Therefore, let all of us who are mature think this way. And if you think differently about anything, God will reveal this also to you." He wants to renew the spirit of your mind so you can perceive, know, and discern the things of the spirit on a higher level and function (Romans 12:2). The things of the spirit require the spirit of excellence and a maturity to steward well when the Lord has entrusted to you. What you steward well and mature and grow in, God will give you more. How you thought about or saw things in this last season won't do. The Lord is saying, "Come up higher! Mature in your thought process. I have a new vantage point to show you, a new way I want you to think about this. I want you to see yourself different, and the things around you with fresh eyes. In order to do that we must take apostle Paul's wisdom when he said, "I forgot what is behind me and I reach forward to what is ahead." Some of you have been waiting on a breakthrough or the momentum to come. Momentum and breakthrough is found as you reach forward. As you reach ahead you’re going to catch the wave of acceleration that is being released right now. When you grab a hold of what's ahead, you're pulling what’s ahead you into your now. Now faith is pulling God's reality into your now. To lay ahold of the new in 2020 you have to forget the former things, let go, and reach ahead to what the Lord is doing now. Behold, the Lord is doing a new thing!
